Morning Reveal, 2026
Acrylic on canvas
24” x 24”
We spent two nights on Tom Thomson Lake.
Each morning, we stepped out of the tent to discover the view of the landscape around us completely obscured by mist, with the sky and horizon melding into one single plane of white.
Each morning, we waited and watched. Slowly, gradually, little by little, the landscape that we knew to be out there somewhere revealed itself, emerging into form from what was once emptiness.
Painted with an intentional absence of blue and green, this work utilizes the Zorn limited palette. While traditionally used in portraiture, here it is applied to the landscape, evoking a human quality that approaches the land as an intimate subject rather than a distant scene.
